We've compiled solutions for frequent Poindeo usage problems. If you're experiencing the same questions, check the answer or try the solutions below.

💻Features & Functionality

Q: Feature list looks awesome! Like that, it focuses on fast and quick edits and zoom effects. Does it have a quick auto step creator, i.e., click to add a 1 2 3 label to go with the zoom effects and auto update if steps are removed?

Yes, Poindeo supports adding step labels, and you can also choose to hide them (Click the Cursor panel from the left function bar, turn on “Draw Points” to show step labels! If a step is removed, the order of the labels will update automatically.

Q: How does Poindeo make videos with a PDF?

You can upload a PDF document, and Poindeo will automatically separate it into individual pages, each with an attractive background. From there, you can record a voice-over, add music, and use our zoom-in point feature to highlight specific areas of the document as you explain them, creating a dynamic video presentation.

Q: Does it have a captioning ability?

Yes, Poindeo supports video captions and includes an automatic speech-to-text feature to generate them for you.

Q: Is it possible to make templates and apply consistent branding to all videos?

You can achieve consistent branding by clicking the "Apply to all scenes" button to apply the same background, cursor style, pointer settings, and other elements across your entire video project. The template is not available yet, but it is planned.

Q: Is there a way to save a video as a GIF or an animated looped file?

Yes. When exporting your project, you can choose to save it in MP4, GIF, or PNG formats.

Q: Is there a way to compress videos without losing quality?

The main Poindeo editor allows you to export high-quality videos at up to 60fps and 4K resolution. For compression needs, we also offer a separate, free online video compression tool.

🎥Recording

Q: What is the maximum length of the recording it can allow?

Technically, there is no limit on recording length, as it is primarily dependent on your computer's performance (CPU, RAM). However, for optimal performance and stability, we recommend keeping individual recordings under 3-5 minutes.

Q: Can you record something on your desktop or only in your browser? Also, does it support switching tabs and recording it (along with webcam image following)?

Poindeo can record your entire desktop screen, a specific application window, or a single browser tab. The recording is limited to the initial tab you select; switching to a different tab during a recording is not currently supported. You need to start a new recording for the new tab.

Q: Is it possible to record my screen and create a video from PDFs simultaneously?

Yes, this is a specific feature of Poindeo. It supports combining multiple media into a video. You can upload your PDFs, images, or existing video clips, and then record your screen to add it to the timeline with PDF pages.

📌Editing & Customization

Q: Can we add voice-overs or background music?

Yes. Poindeo allows you to record voice-overs to explain content from PDFs or images. You can also import your own audio files to use as background music for your video.

Q: Can we use our own image as a background? Do you have animated backgrounds?

Yes, you can upload and use your own static images as a background. While we do not currently offer animated or dynamic backgrounds, this feature is on our product roadmap and planned for a future release.

🧰Performance & Technical Specifications

Q: How does Poindeo ensure smooth performance when working with large PDFs or high-resolution images?

Poindeo is a browser-based tool that relies on your computer's local resources (CPU, RAM). Performance is directly related to your machine's specifications. The tool is optimized for creating shorter videos quickly and conveniently.

Q: How is data handled during audio additions? Are there any caching or auto-save features?

Currently, all editing work, including audio files, is handled within your local browser session. This means projects are not saved if the browser page is refreshed or closed. We are planning to add project-saving capabilities in the future.

Q: What is the scalability plan for creating longer videos? Are there maximum file sizes?

For now, there is no limit for uploading and exporting, but we recommend keeping final video durations under 5 minutes for the most stable performance. Our long-term vision for handling larger and longer videos involves integrating cloud-based processing and storage.

Q: Does it work smoothly on mobile browsers, too?

Poindeo is designed for desktop use and is currently available on Chrome and Edge browsers. It is not supported on mobile browsers at this time.

Q: Media thumbnails disappear in the panel?

Re-click the current scene on the timeline to restore thumbnails.

Q: Mouse actions and zoom effects are unsynchronized?

Drag zoom points earlier than (before) action triggers on the timeline.

Q: How to fix uploading failures?

Potential conflicts between recent OS updates and the browser. The best user experience is on the Chrome and Edge browsers. If using Safari or Firefox, there may be compatibility issues.
